NATIONAL BESTSELLER From the bestselling author of The Handmaid's Tale and The Testaments—the second book of the internationally celebrated MaddAddam trilogy, set in the visionary world of Oryx and Crake, is at once a moving tale of lasting friendship and a landmark work of speculative fiction.

The long-feared waterless flood has occurred, altering Earth as we know it and obliterating most human life. Among the survivors are Ren, a young trapeze dancer locked inside the high-end sex club Scales and Tails, and Toby, who is barricaded inside a luxurious spa. Amid shadowy, corrupt ruling powers and new, gene-spliced life forms, Ren and Toby will have to decide on their next move, but they can't stay locked away.

NATIONAL BESTSELLER • From the bestselling author of The Handmaid's Tale and The Testamants—this final volume of the internationally celebrated MaddAddam trilogy "has brought the previous two books together in a fitting and joyous conclusion that’s an epic not only of an imagined future but of our own past" (The New York Times Book Review).

The Waterless Flood pandemic has wiped out most of the population. Toby is part of a small band of survivors, along with the Children of Crake: the gentle, bioengineered quasi-human species who will inherit this new earth.

As Toby explains their origins to the curious Crakers, her tales cohere into a luminous oral history that sets down humanity’s past—and points toward its future. Blending action, humor, romance, and an imagination at once dazzlingly inventive and grounded in a recognizable world,
MaddAddam is vintage Atwood—a moving and dramatic conclusion to her epic work of speculative fiction.

Great price and fast delivery. Love Margaret Atwood. This story is as thought provoking as the Handmaids Tale! Highly recommend.

I read the trilogy a while back and loved them. I had checked the books out from the library not thinking they'd be so good, but they were! I finally got my hand on the physical set, so now, can read them as much as I want to.

The first book, "Oryx and Crake" is about Jimmy and the world he lives in. It's a dystopian world where the government is a puppet and a security firm is actually the one controlling the world. Jimmy makes a friend with a genius named Glenn who creates a human species free of "evil." However, things go awry in their world and the new humans are left to the care of Jimmy, but Jimmy doesn't make it, and they are left on their own.

The second book, "Year of the Flood," has a lot of Christian themes in it. It's not Christian in the sense that it persuades, but more so in a satire and negative way. It's sort of a foretelling the story of the the fall on America.

The third book, "Maddaddam," is unique in that it's about the internet and technology and using to gain power can cause a world chaos. It mainly focuses on Glenn, I believe (Crake from Oryx and Crake).

This is an excellent dystopian story that almost feels as though it could happen in our world.

I bought the book series as a xmas gift for my daughter and have to admit I read all 3 books when they arrived (feeling a bit guilty because now they are officially used). The author was recommended by her boyfriend who read the first book in this trilogy and said it was amazing. I typically do not read dystopia type of books but after reading the 1st I was hooked, the author Margarette Atwood is a wonderful story teller and really draws you into the characters, scenes and the impact an intentionally generated virus and gene splicing could have on modern day society .... really gets you thinking ... highly recommend.

I always recommend this series to people, and I'm so glad I have the whole set now! Margaret builds a compelling and haunting vision of the future that I can't get enough of. I keep hearing rumors of a TV show in the works - but I've been hearing those for years, so I'm not letting my hopes get too high just yet.

I started reading this series on the recommendation of a friend. It is suspenseful, and has great characterizations. This classic series from 2003, explores the extremes of survival amid ecological and genetic change, possibilities that we as the human species are still just beginning to explore and have not yet been able to discern the full ramifications of our own activities.

This is a boxed set; a corner of the box was crushed. Amazon usually ships in a box, but this was in a plastic mailer. The books are fine. No big deal. The order came very quickly.

Margaret Atwood is one of my favorite authors, and I really like this trilogy. She writes very well and it's a joy to read her books. On top of this, she writes about provocative and/or timely topics in a thoughtful way. You might not agree with her, but you will think about the things she writes about. Don't plan on speeding through this trilogy, but you will get a lot out of it. I especially recommend The Year of the Flood for people interested in environmental issues, but it will be better if you read Oryx and Crake first.

Why you would ever ban this series from a school is beyond me. Do I agree with everything in the books? No. But the overall sentiment is something the human race needs to think about! Let us sing!

This was a present to my girlfriend, who loves reading about dystopian world sci-fi.
She reads a lots of books and she has told me that this trilogy from the author of "Hand Maid's Tale" is amazing, some of the best written dystopian world books she has ever read.
Following this, I have to recommend reading it :)
